Are you passionate about mentoring students and equipping them with essential skills? We invite dedicated educators to consider joining our team to provide personalized, high-impact instruction, both in one-on-one settings and classroom environments.

Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic educators willing to teach in-person at our Lincoln Park and Winnetka locations, as well as at our partner schools. While virtual interactions are preferred by many students and partners, in-person availability is a requirement for this role. Candidates should be prepared to commit through the 2024-25 school year.

Key Information

  • Timing: Our services experience variable demand throughout the year, peaking from January to April. Candidates should be able to commit long-term, as hours may be limited in late spring and summer before increasing again in the fall.
  • Content Assessment: A content quiz, covering English and math, will be required as part of the interview process. This untimed quiz typically takes 30-45 minutes to complete.
  • Training: Completion of our comprehensive training program is valued. The Gateway Training module, which includes both synchronous and asynchronous components, spans approximately 31 hours over 2-3 weeks, with a $500 stipend provided for participation.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Competitive Pay: Rates start at \(30 per hour for one-on-one tutoring and \)47 per hour for classroom instruction, with potential increases based on performance. Tutoring at our Winnetka location begins at $45 per hour.

  • Travel Compensation: Eligible for compensation for commutes of at least 30 minutes and 15 miles for school programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized academic and test-prep instruction to high school (and some middle school) students in the Chicagoland area.
  • Build professional relationships with students and stakeholders.
  • Accurately manage your calendar using Microsoft Outlook.
  • Communicate promptly with administrators, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management and professionalism in both remote and in-person settings.
  • Attend all required training and professional development events.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in any field.
  • A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and educational equity.
  • A passion for fostering student success.
  • Proficiency in academic subjects including English, math, reading, and science.
  • Access to a computer with a webcam and microphone, along with a reliable internet connection for virtual instruction (minimum 100 Mbps download and upload speed).
  • Availability of at least 10 hours per week.
  • Capability to teach all subjects covered in the ACT.
