Position Summary:

Research, develop and create improvements that focus on ways to increase productivity, maximize efficiency and manage human capital more effectively. Develop and implement strategic projects supporting the corporate office, Distribution Centers and other operations. This position has three levels: The Senior Industrial Engineer spends more time analyzing and monitoring data/trends, assist in constructing process and growth support plans, and coordinating (and completing) multiple projects simultaneously in the Operations area. The Junior Industrial Engineer is typically hired from an undergraduate Engineering program and will learn the technical expertise of an Industrial Engineer role through supporting operations and projects.

What you will do in this role:

  • Oversee all aspects of project management: Set deadlines, assign responsibilities/tasks, monitor, report and measure progress.
  • Support operations through performing various tasks and analyses as required, including but not limited to:
  • Designing layout of equipment, DCs and other Almo workspace
  • Assisting in the development, recommendation, and implementation of improvement projects and systems for Almo Distribution Centers
  • Studying and rearranging material flow, and operations sequence
  • Designing and developing management control systems
  • Developing Production and Distribution layouts, determines manpower requirements, conducts capacity analysis and cost justifications.
  • Designing and developing Standard Operating Procedures for warehousing operations to improve ways of maintaining quality and consistency
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate operational data related (and in some cases unrelated) to projects
  • Using data to assist in financial planning and cost analysis

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Senior Industrial Engineer will:

  • Build, maintain and analyze comprehensive operational metrics related to DC and transportation function, which drives methodology, automation and other solutions.
  • Assist in setting milestones and monitoring projects against those milestone points
  • Assist in setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities/tasks, reporting on any/all variances
  • Support more complex project modeling and what if projects with data, analysis, and/or CAD
  • Monitor and lead all of the projects related to that area, including Industrial Engineers, summer and other interns, etc.


What we look for in a candidate:

EXPERIENCE

  • Familiar with a variety of the industrial engineering and project management fields concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Industrial Engineer: 2-5 years of experience; Senior: 7-10 years of experience in Industrial Engineering or related field(s). Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from four-year college or university required. PMP Certification preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Highly capable and experienced in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and CAD in routine work. Experience with AS400 a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend semi-complex instructions, and correspondence. Ability to write semi-complex correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to vendors, customers, and employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Strong analytical and data management skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or conceptual form. Ability to deal with many tasks and issues simultaneously.
