Overview


New York Medical College Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology is recruiting a Research Specialist to participate in research activities on pathogens, antimicrobials, genomics, and microbiome. Hands-on experience with qPCR, gene manipulation, genome and microbiome analysis, and high throughput library screens preferred. The ability to multitask, work collaboratively, manage data, draft reports, and communicate well are plus. Suitable candidates from other backgrounds are welcome and will have opportunities for multidisciplinary training in infectious disease research.


Responsibilities


  • Perform experiments related to qPCR, gene manipulation, genome and microbiome analysis, and high throughput library screens
  • Follow lab protocols, standards, and relevant guidelines
  • Manage laboratory inventory, instrumentation, and documentation
  • Summarize data, help draft reports and manuscripts, and present at meetings
  • Participate in training of research assistant and graduate students
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications


Education requirement:


  • B.A. or B.S. or M.S. or equivalent degree.


Technical/computer Skills


  • Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook


Prior Experience


  • One-year relevant experience—preference given to candidates with a Master's degree or nearing completion of their doctoral degree.

USD $56,000.00/Yr.
