Base pay range

$46,942.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr
The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring Instructional Coaches. Instructional Coaches enhance student achievement by supporting teachers and teams. Using research-based models, they collaborate with educators to set clear goals and develop action plans addressing instructional needs. Coaches assist with resource gathering, model best practices, analyze data, and monitor progress. They provide professional development aligned with district goals. Successful coaches foster true partnerships, learning alongside teachers through a flexible and adaptable coaching process. Keeping detailed records, they collaborate with peers to improve teaching practices continuously. Coaches receive ongoing training for professional growth. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in education or related field
  • Three consecutive years of Effective or Highly Effective ratings
  • Five years teaching experience
  • Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values


Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate (will be required to enroll in program if don't currently possess)
  • Master's Degree in education or related field
  • Preferred experience a coaching or leadership position in an urban school setting


Job Responsibilities

  • Improve student achievement through teacher created goals that improve instruction
  • Utilize the LSD coaching models to provide support to all teachers via one-on-one coaching and teacher teams
  • Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with teachers and administrators through effective and confidential communication
  • Follow established protocol to pursue and initiate new coaching partnerships with teachers to maintain a full coaching caseload
  • Provide professional learning follow-up implementation support through instructional coaching to connect new learning to improve instruction
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness to meet teacher needs, including reviewing related research, identifying tools, and creating connections with others that have expertise in that area of need
  • Maintain a professional calendar and instructional coaching log of coaching and non-coaching activities
  • Participate in Instructional Coach leadership meetings, training, and PLCs (synchronous and asynchronous) to provide consistent and strategic support to all teachers
  • Work collaboratively with other Instructional Coaches across the district
  • Utilize existing curricular programs, platforms, and resources while collaborating with colleagues to provide robust support services
  • Participate in specialized training as requested to provide support to teachers
  • Continually monitor effectiveness using student data and feedback from stakeholders
  • Maintain professional discretion with teachers and coaches
  • Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
