Our Game Plan

The Bridgeport Islanders are looking for a dedicated Seasonal Intern for the 2024-25 season. As the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, we pride ourselves on providing top-tier entertainment and engaging content to our fanbase that stretches from Fairfield County all the way across the Long Island Sound.

How To Make The Team

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven candidate for the position of Communications/Public Relations Intern. The internship begins in September 2024 and runs through the end of the season (playoffs if necessary). If you are passionate about sports communications and journalism, then we want to get to know you."

Show Us You Can

  • Help maintain organization’s statistical records, photo library, game notes, and news clippings
  • Write feature stories, press releases, game recaps, and mid-week content for BridgeportIslanders.com
  • Game night responsibilities include press box setup, media hospitality, distribution of credentials and rosters, written content and uploading video highlights
  • Brainstorm and pitch ideas for print, video, and more
  • Assist the Director of Broadcasting and Communications as needed

Your Equipment

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate student with strong communications background and a major in communications, journalism or related field.
  • Must be able to work all home game nights, plus 3-5 office hours each week
  • Intense desire to progress in the sports communications industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Creativity, attention to detail, ability to think on one’s feet and manage variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Computer proficiency – Word, Excel, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign

Where You’ll Go

  • You will primarily report to our Bridgeport, CT office inside Total Mortgage Arena, along with:
  • Attending home games and other events (events can fall on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays)
