Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an International Student Advisor at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ. The International Student Advisor will serve as the main point of contact for admitted international students, handle pre-arrival inquiries, provide guidance on immigration regulations, and assist in the delivery of orientation. Additionally, the Advisor collaborates with the Director on data reporting related to international student enrollment.


Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of International Education policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with SEVIS regulations and compliance
  • Ability to handle sensitive student matters with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Familiarity with FERPA regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident in order to meet regulatory requirements as a Designated School Official (DSO)

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a DSO
  • Familiarity with SEVIS and other immigration-related systems.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating workshops and events.
  • Demonstrative knowledge of F-1 student regulations related to initial student processing and practical training
  • Experience using Terra Dotta
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Empathy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
