Outlander is seeking a dynamic and driven investment team member to join our venture capital firm. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with seasoned investors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts. The ideal candidate will play a key role in sourcing new investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and supporting portfolio companies. 

At Outlander VC, we are a veteran and woman owned and led fund with top decile DPI and TVPI performance over the last decade. Outlander has invested in over 150 pre-seed and seed stage companies, resulting in over 18 unicorns (like Scale, Gusto, Wish, Andela, ID.me and others) and top decile returns. Outlander leverages a proprietary, 38-point, human factors analysis framework to consistently identify exceptional founding teams at the earliest stages. 

Responsibilities:

• Sourcing & Deal Flow: Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities through networking, research, and industry events. Build relationships with founders, accelerators, and other industry players to maintain a strong deal pipeline.
• Due Diligence: Conduct thorough market research, financial analysis, and competitive landscape assessments. Assist in evaluating business models and growth potential of prospective investments.
• Investment Analysis: Develop investment theses and present findings to the investment committee. Prepare deal memo and other supporting documentation. Drive deals to successful conclusion.
• Portfolio Support: Work closely with portfolio companies to provide strategic and operational support, including assisting with fundraising, business development, and scaling efforts.
• Market Insights: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics. Provide insights and recommendations to the team to refine investment strategies.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the investment team on various projects, including fundraising, investor relations, and internal process improvements.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, startup operations, founder experience,or angel investing.
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to evaluate business models and market opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Demonstrated passion for startups, entrepreneurship, and technology.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of autonomy.
• Strong relationship-building skills and a network within the startup ecosystem is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience a plus. 

Location: Virtual office (Preferably based in SF or NYC).

Start: Immediately

Compensation: Base + Annual Bonus + Economic Interest in the Fund
