IT Project Manager - Expert

Project Management Opportunity at NC Department of Health and Human Services

Are you an experienced IT Project Manager looking for a new challenge? The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Project Management Office has an exciting opportunity for an IT Project Manager-Expert to lead the implementation of multiple web-based and/or low-code applications. This 12-month contract position offers a competitive W-2 rate of up to $55 per hour.

Requirements

  • Adapt working style to ensure compliance with the State's and DHHS' methodologies
  • Experience with waterfall, agile, and hybrid methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail

Responsibilities

Building Business Cases:

  • Develop and obtain approval of business cases for new projects through analysis and cost/benefit assessments.

Project Implementation

  • Lead medium to large-sized projects of moderate to high complexity and risk.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work with senior executives, IT personnel, and other stakeholders to analyze project requirements and manage expectations.

Scrum Master Role

  • Serve as a scrum master for internal agile development projects.

Project Oversight

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to project teams and vendor-related activities.

Risk Management

  • Identify project risks, impacts, and potential schedule issues; work on resolution strategies.

Vendor Management

  • Support the Contract Administrator in managing vendor deliverables and invoice validation activities.

Project Documentation

  • Develop project management artifacts following PMI's PMBOK guidelines and State project methodology.

Budget And Expenses

  • Develop detailed project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure project documentation is maintained.

Relationship Management

  • Manage internal and external relationships and dependencies to ensure successful project delivery.

Procurement Support

  • Assist in managing procurement efforts through the development of necessary procurement documents.
