Job Title: IT SECURTY SPECIALIST III (System Administration Services)
Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC, NW)
Clearance Required: Active Secret clearance or higher.

Summary: IBSS is seeking a professional IT Security Specialist specializing in System Administration to support the NOAA Office of Space Commerce (OSC), which is the principal unit for space commerce policy activities within the Department of Commerce. Its mission is to foster the conditions for the economic growth and technological advancement of the U.S. commercial space industry. This position is in response to the need for IT Security Support Services. OSC is headquartered in Washington, DC and has offices located in Silver Spring, MD and Suitland, MD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations, and active directory administration.
  • Document user account creation and termination.
  • Document tasks performed and comply with the risk management framework regarding documentation and security;
  • Builds, configures, and troubleshoots software enhancements, application deployments and up-grades.
  • Troubleshoot networks.
  • Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Report IT status to government and program managers.
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.
  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
  • Manage user access and permissions to all systems and data.
  • Perform daily security backups and restores.
  • Manage all monitoring and alerting throughout applications and infrastructure.
  • Monitor important network metrics (CPU, usage, DNS, latency, etc.) in order to quickly detect incidents as they occur.
Requirements
  • B.S. Degree and minimum of 4-6 years of IT System Administration and related tasks
  • Experience deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP, and firewalls).
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of datacenter technologies including Linux Administration, Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN); Network protocols.
  • Proficient in RHEL and AWS.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and solid data entry skills.
