Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an ET Support Intern located at the Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska. Position closes July 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. This position can support 20-30 hours per week during the school year, depending on student availability, and 40 hours per week when school is not in session.
Position Summary
This is a temporary, entry-level technical position with a focus on end-user customer service and technical skills development.
Incumbent will assist Information Technology (IT) Support with various work to support computer users through the installation and maintenance of various desktop hardware and software components, procedural documentation to be captured into a knowledge retention application (ComAround), and the IT Service Center by providing coverage answering phones and resolving customer (NPPD colleagues) issues.
Education, Training And Experience
The Intern must be enrolled in an accredited two year or four year college/university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or eight quarter units with freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior standing in a related major and must maintain enrollment throughout the internship. The internship/training must be in the student's field of study. College credit may apply to some internships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Setup, maintain, and repair District-owned computer hardware and software assets, including printers. Perform routine equipment maintenance ensuring software and hardware are maintained with current security patches or versions. Maintain equipment inventory.
Install, test, maintain, and support packaged (such as off-the-shelf) hardware and software based on scripted instructions.
Investigate computer problem reports until satisfactory resolution is obtained. Track and maintain a history of work done on personal computers.
Work in accordance with assigned priorities and schedules based on assigned notifications created by customers or oneself.
Assist ET Service Center by providing coverage answering phones and resolving customer (District colleagues) issues. Communicate effectively with clients on problems and propose and implement solutions in a timely manner.
Provide software assistance, including, but not limited to, creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth.
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
