IT System Administrator

The IT System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and the infrastructure on which these run (network, servers). The IT System Administrator will report to the IT Manager. This position will perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures. The IT System Administrator will identify any problems in the system, anticipate potential issues and repair systems and software when necessary.

Essential Functions:

Networking

  • Responsible for VLAN configuration & network segmentation.
  • Manages switch programming.
  • Responsible for stacking.
  • Manages Remote Access through VPN
  • Manages overall Firewall systems.

Hosting

  • Responsible for routine server management, primarily in Microsoft Windows.
  • Maintains VMWARE virtual environments.
  • Responsible for Azure Virtual Machines, Management
  • Administration of O365.
  • Manages VEEAM and other backup technologies
  • Maintains SQL server.

Security

  • Utilizes XDR & SIEM tools

SW Deployments

  • MS Intune
  • MS Deployment ToolKit MDT / Windows Deployment Services WDS

Scripting / Automation

  • PowerShell/CScript/VBScript

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily operations and monitoring of multiple databases, user accounts, file permissions and other systems according to standard operating procedures for storage and backup architectures.
  • Responsible for network IP management along with troubleshooting and design suggestions.
  • Participate in required compliance activities as needed, including data log collection, statistical analysis, and proper reporting standards.
  • Perform daily system monitoring and backup procedures to ensure data security, availability and integrity of required resources, and proper recording of application logs and reviews.
  • Manage, deploy, and configure hardware upgrades, software updates, security patches and other necessary items on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide immediate, direct customer support and troubleshooting help to end users through email, telephone, and personal communication.
  • Interface directly with the help desk and resolve and document hardware and software troubleshooting tickets, bug reports and errors.
  • Responsible for keeping updated, accurate and reliable backups of application and databases.
  • Ensure overall system and server uptime, availability, reliability, and security.
  • Responsible for system monitoring and maintenance including configuration & security management, patching, automation, hardening and system upgrades.
  • Documents policies and procedures
  • Plan and execute Life Cycle Management activities of company IT assets (infra, printers, PC).

Experience & Necessary Skills:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with server, database, network administration and cloud system administration.
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
  • Experience with modern IT security principles and tools.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT system upgrade plans.
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • A strong candidate will possess both reliability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage projects, communicate with staff and clients, make decisions, and monitor the progress of projects to keep on schedule.
  • Experience with the following preferred:
    • VEEAM backups
    • SQL server
    • Ruckus/Brocade or Extreme switches
    • Firewall management (Checkpoint or Fortinet)
    • ICT GX security system
    • MS Deployment ToolKit MDT / Windows Deployment Services WDS
