Your impact
The Jacobs Tempe office is immediately seeking a junior-level biologist who can demonstrate experience in conducting biological analyses/fieldwork in support of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other applicable regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, impact assessments, project site investigation, habitat surveys, mitigation planning, restoration/mitigation site monitoring, and construction monitoring.
This Position can be part-time (<21 hours/week) or modified full-time (21 – 39+ hrs/week) depending on availability and workload. Jacobs offers a hybrid work location, balancing working in the Tempe office, from home and in the field.

Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in field studies and/or environmental analysis. A Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience.
- Experience conducting field surveys for special status species in the Southwest.
- Experience preparing survey reports.
- Knowledgeable of Endangered Species Act section 7 regulations.
- Excellent writing skills and experience in writing technical biological reports
- Excellent verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
- Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Experience preparing biological assessments, biological evaluations, biological reviews, and/or biological evaluation short forms to comply with the ESA
- Experience preparing biological portions of environmental assessments and/or environmental impact statements to comply with NEPA
- Experience working on projects for state departments of transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
