Description

The Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC) studies living marine resources (e.g., salmon, groundfish, and killer whales) and their habitats in the Northeast Pacific Ocean-primarily off the coasts of Washington and Oregon and in freshwater rivers and streams in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.

The Northwest Fisheries Science Center has a requirement that can provide project support services at the Montlake Laboratory campus in Seattle, WA.

These services include: data call support; data entry into enterprise business software; business process/workflow documentation, improvement, and implementation; and customer service / communication support.

This position is ideal for individuals with familiarity with NOAA processes and has relevant project management experience and willing to pursue their PMP certification as a part of their professional development.

Work will be a hybrid work environment of on-site and remote, and location in the Seattle Metro area is required.

Experience with change management, project charter development, Gantt chart use and development will be exceedingly valuable to candidates.

Familiarity with Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid project Frameworks is also a significant plus.

Ideal candidates will have initiative, be organized, and able to identify and mitigate common project problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to support and assist project team members in the execution and implementation of a variety of project tasks particularly by providing analytic and technical support.
  • Ability to complete research, analyze and synthesize information using evaluation and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to provide assistance / guidance in support of NOAA Fisheries management, organizational, and business improvement efforts.
  • Ability to analyze problems, evaluate the contents of written information, and apply sound judgment to resolve problems or offer alternative solutions to management.
  • Ability to complete workflow analysis, planning, change process, and systems implementation.
  • Ability to prepare evaluation statements, reports of findings, and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to develop technical and project requirements.
  • Ability to work independently or under only general direction.

Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a project-related field.
  • Must have a minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Candidates with strong working knowledge of Google Suite (e.g. Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, etc.) Microsoft Office (e.g. Project, Visio) and Smartsheet are preferred.
  • PMP is not required, but certification will be expected as part of the candidate's professional growth.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with NOAA business processes and enterprise systems is preferred.
  • Experience drafting project and business documentation is a plus.
