Are you a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit that is interested in making an impact in our community? HALO is currently seeking a candidate for a full time employment opportunity of dedication, caring, and compassion. This position is an opportunity to lead like-minded team members in two HALO Homes and one HALO Center, providing support and guidance to ensure the new Kansas City location is well utilized within the community for youth in need .  An ideal candidate must role model best practices of working with youth who have experienced trauma, and create a welcoming and trauma-informed environment for youth, staff and volunteers. They must also possess an entrepreneurial spirit in the area of program planning and community involvement. 

Main components of this position include:

  • Build and supervise a team of 10+ employees in Youth Advocate, Relief Staff, and Center Program Manager positions in Kansas City. Establish working relationships with team members to build trust, constructively challenge practices and procedures needing improvement
  • Lead weekly program staff meetings to discuss youth goals, progress and standing in the HALO Homes, as well as upcoming program facilitation in the HALO Center
  • Provide guidance to the KC Senior Youth Advocate on youth cases through the entirety of the Home programs, from approving eligibility, to exist to a safe and appropriate location.
  • Provide guidance on all youth issues and progress as they arise in collaboration with the Youth Advocate Team           
  • Provide guidance utilizing mental health experience for the security of the youth and program at large
  • Crisis Management: Be available for emergencies related to severe weather, mental or physical health crisis, youth crisis, staffing issues, or other emergencies.
  • Bring new ideas to the table to implement strong, outcome driven programs in the HALO Center that help youth reach their full potential
  • Work in collaboration with KC Center Program Manager to ensure daily program facilitation and individual service delivery
  • Establish and maintain partnerships within the community to provide services, programming and opportunities to youth outside of HALO expertise
  • Opportunity to work with Chief Program Officer to strategic planning and goal setting for the enhancement of programs, furthering the reach of youth in need in the Greater Kansas City community.

Qualifications

Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other human services field from an accredited college preferred OR a bachelor’s degree in social work or a human service area or study from an accredited school plus 2+ years’ experience in residential treatment for children and youth services. 
  • Minimum 4 years management experience 
  • Team member must have strong communication and organizational skills, ability to problem solve, builds relationships with team and community, is goal oriented, has a positive attitude, displays high energy and is a role model for health and wellness.
  • Must be a responsible, mature individual of reputable character who exercise sound judgment, and displays the capacity to provide good care and supervision of youth
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, Class E license within 30 days.
  • Background clearance
  • Experience supporting the needs of behaviorally complex youth with a history of mental, emotional, or physical trauma is preferred, but not required (training will be provided).
  • While this position is 40 hours per week, it does oversee two 24/7, 365 transitional living programs and one Learning Center with evening hours.  This would require the occasional evening and weekend availability to train, assist and oversee staff and program facilitation.  
  • Software proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and Google Suite. Not required but would be great if this candidate is familiar with Slack; Paycom; Apricot; and Asana. Additional training provided on all software used at HALO.
