Laboratory Supervisor
Position Summary
The Lab Supervisor is responsible for supervising all functions of a single laboratory. This employee is
responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, including a strong focus on safety, quality, and
delivery of testing services. In addition, this role is responsible for facilities management, and ensuring
the laboratory is properly staffed with a trained team to meet production expectations. The Supervisor
has HR responsibilities including managing working and overtime schedules, performance evaluations,
mentoring, and adhering to HR policies. The Laboratory Supervisor may perform additional operational
tasks and functions while supporting the Regional Laboratory Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Ensures all safety and environmental requirements are in place, and are trained and in
compliance with state, federal or providence regulations
Maintains housekeeping and organization of the Lab
Ensure proper training and disposal of related hazardous materials
Supervises timely and accurate preparation, analysis and quantitation of test samples
Generates and report analytical data when required
Supervises production schedules based on customer demand and established metrics
Provides point of contact client and technical service support (i.e. interpretation of test
results, answering of status or technical questions, or fulfilling of special requests)
Provides laboratory technical support (coordination with vendors for repairs, calibrations,
coordinating with laboratory team for routine maintenance/troubleshooting of equipment)
Supports and participates in lab Quality Control programs
Supervises the internal training and competencies of lab staff.
Mentors and develops staff capabilities
Coordinates purchasing, receiving goods, inventory, invoicing duties for the lab ensuring
appropriate approvals and processes are followed and adhering to budgetary and policy
Requirements

Performs additional operational tasks and functions while supporting the Regional
Laboratory Manager
Job Requirements
BS or BA in Chemistry, Biology or related technical field (Chemistry background preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting
Previous Supervisory Experience Required
Proficiency in computer applications
Customer Support Experience Required
Excellent communication skills
