Salary/Hourly Rate
$30/hr – $35/hr DOE
Position Overview
The Laboratory Technician (Microbiology/Molecular Biology) – 3rd shift will perform routine diagnostic testing pre-analytical processes and assist with the analytical procedures for patient testing. The Laboratory Technician (Microbiology/Molecular Biology) – 3rd shift will be performing tests and interpreting results only under the direct supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist.
Responsibilities Of The Laboratory Technician (Microbiology/Molecular Biology) – 3rd Shift
Execution of moderate to high complexity tests based on established protocols
Responsible for the preparation and storage of specimens, reagents, and culture media
Assist in conducting quality control procedures
Collaborate with Lab Technologists and escalation of issues to the Lead, General Supervisor, and/or Lab Director
Preparation, labeling, and preservation of biological specimens as per SOPs
Assist in routine instrument upkeep and daily preventive measures
Oversight of reagent and supply inventory
Provide assistance in sterilizing glassware and keeping the workspace clean
Dispose of biohazardous waste as per standard procedures
Organize patient specimens and testing worksheets/printouts for reviews
Assist in the processing of all test methods approved by medical bodies under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Technologist
Documentation of test performance, quality activities, and other routine procedures using established forms
Adhere to all safety protocols, policies, and the laboratory’s Quality Management System
Perform other assigned duties
Qualifications For The Laboratory Technician (Microbiology/Molecular Biology) – 3rd Shift
At least 2 years of work experience in a CAP/CLIA accredited laboratory
Experience with molecular/microbiology laboratory
Experience in handling human specimens
Strong hands-on experience in pipetting, PCR, aseptic technique, and being able to prevent specimen contamination
Experience of at least 2 years working in a Molecular Biology/Microbiology laboratory
Strong data entry skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Must be flexible and open to work an extended schedule as needed
Proactive, Independent, and mature individual
Good attention to detail and can handle working in a fast-paced environment accurately
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is required
FLORIDA License is a MUST
