Landman
This is a full-time position that is responsible for acquiring, maintaining, and dispose of oil and gas land assets to optimize True Oil LLC's oil and gas ownership, at the direction of the Land Manager or other designated person(s) and prepare informational reports for -management by performing the following duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Acquire oil and gas leases at federal and state auctions, and landowners, through the use of lease broker, third parties, farmins, pooling, joint ventures etc.
- Make recommendations on where to acquire leases and on what basis.
- Handle negotiations of farmouts, options, poolings, JOAs, unitizations, joint ventures etc.
- Work with attorneys to obtain drilling title opinions, if necessary obtain division order title opinions along with resolving all title defects as appropriate.
- Negotiate with surface owners to acquire rights in support of drilling and production activities
- Provide guidance to analysts as to the analysis and interpretation of new leases and contracts.
- Oversee the updating of company land plat to assure accurate portrayal of True's land position.
- Prepare legal documents for review by Land Manager and/or attorney including appropriate signatures.
- Research lease and contract files to determine True's ownership in defined area.
- Implement organization of the companies’ numerous contract files, leases and mineral ownership.
- Review governmental law and regulatory proposals and makes recommendations for comments/actions upon them.
- Maintain current and working knowledge of governmental laws and regulations applicable to any and all job functions.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in related field (Ex. PLM, BS, BA) with five to ten (5-10) years of experience as an in-house Landman; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of oil and gas law, contracts, tax accounting and lease maintenance programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Power Point, P2 Excalibur, Arc View or Land/GIS knowledge preferred.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- AAPL membership and CPL and/or ESA preferred.
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
