About The Role & Team

theScore is looking for an NFL reporter with a proven track record of finding and telling captivating stories through editorial and multimedia content. The ideal candidate possesses an unparalleled work ethic, sharp writing skills and is engaging on-camera. Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of the NFL landscape to be able to offer meaningful reporting and opinions on the latest trends and developments in the sport.

About The Work

Typical work day at theScore

  • Pitch and write columns, notebooks, opinion pieces, features, analysis and other exclusive stories.
  • Conduct interviews for feature content.
  • Pick up feature projects as assigned by the Features Editor.
  • Assist in coverage of news events and content planning as required.
  • Appear in video content for theScore’s app and off-platform social channels.
  • Contribute to collaborative projects with other editorial staff members.
  • Attend local and international events when necessary for assignments, such as the Draft, marquee games and Super Bowl.
  • Other duties as required.


Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of professional football.
  • A knack for storytelling.
  • At least 3+ years experience writing and creating multimedia football content for a digital media organization.
  • A degree in journalism is preferred.
  • A proven track record of writing thoughtful columns and feature articles with minimal editing under deadline.
  • Versatility to write across a wide variety of topics, including on-field results, business, roster and salary, off-field conduct and cultural trends.
  • Experience conducting interviews with athletes is an asset.
  • Ability to engage with readers on social media is a plus.
  • Willingness to take on other projects as they come up.
  • Flexibility with regards to scheduling.
  • First-rate communication skills, professionalism and integrity.
  • Knowledge of college football is a plus.
