Legal Counsel

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets – passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment – Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

This position will be responsible for providing a wide range of legal services for a complex, global organization with substantial collaboration and integration with the business team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and drafting of a wide range of commercial contracts including product purchase and sale agreements utilized in the mobility markets.
  • Counseling with business team members on strategic and tactical response to legal risks affecting the business team.
  • Assisting the business team with regulatory compliance management.
  • Commercial dispute assessment and resolution activities.
  • Preparation and presentation of preventative law training programs.
  • Collaboration with other corporate functions (e.g. Internal Audit, Tax, Corporate Communications, Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, IT, etc.) as needed to provide comprehensive business support.

Experience Required:

  • Four-six years in legal practice, with excellent experience and a focus in each of the areas of responsibility identified above.
  • Preference for candidates that have spent a portion of their career as in-house legal counsel at a company of equivalent global complexity.
  • Demonstrated business savvy, and ability to analyze relevant business goals and objectives, and proactively and strategically manage risk, and identify potential legal solutions that meet business goals and objectives.
  • Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing with colleagues at all levels of a large organization; ability to adjust style and approach to fit the required audience and deliver the required message.
  • The ideal candidate must also have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school, demonstrating superior academics and admitted to practice before, and in good standing with a State Bar.
