RE: IMMEDATE PART-TIME POSITION OPEN FOR THE LAW OFFICE
I. CANDIDATES PREFERRED: Experience or strong interest in criminal law, Office Manager, Sales and Marketing Professional, legal intern (paid internship; opportunity for growth), legal assistant, legal secretary, law school student, law clerk, legal assistant, paralegal, qualified for partial license to practice under rule 7 of the Tennessee Supreme Court and/or the experience and work ethic necessary to assist the office.
A. DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS (WORKING IN OFFICE REGULARLY REQUIRED; SOME EXCEPTIONS MINIMAL WORKING REMOTE; OTHER TASKS)
i. Will work with skill set and school schedule but a willingness to learn is a must. Part-time hours being considered for any assistance that may be provided. A possible start could be ASAP pending review if candidate is a sold fit for position.
ii. The following experience is strongly preferred: legal writing skills, great attention to detail, excellent people skills, knowledge/experience in assisting persons with a mental health illness and/or assisting individuals with substance use disorder, review of medical records (i.e. injuries, cause, type of wound) and/or possible review of pre-existing conditions, great communication skills, making phone calls and returning phone calls is a must, review and analyze law enforcement reports, legal research is a must, scheduling, tech skills, calendaring, admin tasks, timelines in cases, review of various different statements in reports/transcripts, and/or review of statements in prior hearings, legal research skills preferred, review court rules, scheduling deadlines, review of statutes, assistance in drafting motions, document review, runner tasks, and/or reviewing procedural rules.
iii. Ideal for a pre-law student with a strong interest in criminal law and/or a law school student looking for practical experience in criminal defense as well as jury trial preparation; ideal for law clerk or legal assistant or legal intern; and position offers opportunity for growth (paid internship). However, under some rare circumstances assist in civil cases and/or assistance in other matters outside of criminal law if a particular case is taken by the law office.
iv. Scanning and/or reviewing voluminous documents.
v. Proofreading documents including any citations and/or cited legal authority.
vi. Assistance in various hearing prep, preliminary hearings, cross examination, trial prep, and/or pre-trial prep. Resumes and writing samples may by be emailed to: hasslerlaw@gmail.com
