Remote Opportunity Overview
We are scouting for experienced contract candidates with a background in legal or judicial transcription, specifically in transcribing depositions and hearings. This position is completely remote, available for independent contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Transcribe depositions, hearings, and other judicial proceedings with a focus on detail and accuracy.
Process audio recordings while strictly adhering to established style guides to produce verbatim transcripts.
Maintain a high level of familiarity with legal terminology and demonstrate excellent grammar in all transcriptions.
Work Environment and Flexibility
As an independent contractor at VIQ Solutions, you have the flexibility to set your own schedule and work at your convenience, with support from our in-office team whenever necessary. We offer work availability around the clock, 365 days a year, making it ideal for those who can work weekends.
Qualifications
Experience in court reporting, legal transcription, or scoping is required.
Excellent listening skills with a strong adherence to deadlines and client-specific style guides.
Outstanding literacy skills, including comprehension, spelling, and grammar.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote working environment.
Proficient typing skills with a focus on both speed and accuracy.
Capable of processing sensitive or extreme audio/text content.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Familiarity with legal terminology is essential.
Court reporting students may also be considered.
Note: This opportunity is not available to residents of Massachusetts or California.

High-speed internet connection
A computer or laptop
Noise-canceling quality headphones
Windows 10 operating system
An antivirus program that receives daily virus definition updates (excluding Webroot antivirus)
An Infinity foot pedal is highly recommended
Proficiency in Microsoft Word
