NOTE*** This role will be moving to the Boston Back Bay headquarters mid to late July 2024
The Lending Assistant will perform typical administrative duties for Brookline Bank’s Business Banking & Commercial Underwriting team. This work will include a high level of customer service for lending customers as well as coordination between departments within the bank and attorneys on behalf of the bank.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate loan closings and prepare closing documents for new loans using Laser Pro or standard templates.
Prepare loan setup forms working closely with loan servicing.
Prepare and have a working knowledge of legal documents and amendments for documented loans.
Maintain in-process and existing credit files, in conjunction with credit analyst, portfolio managers and lenders.
Prepare loan advances for existing loans.
Assist in preparing commitment letters and other correspondence as necessary.
Review loans for conformity with compliance policy and procedures performing monthly audits
Order flood certificates, appraisals, tax transcripts and perform OFAC checks.
Enter loans guaranteed by the SBA into the eTran system checking other SBA required data checks.
Perform certain office manager related duties including ordering supplies.
May require compiling loan presentations for Management Loan Committees
Providing administrative support as needed to the underwriting team.
Provide excellent customer service to borrowers as needed.
Work closely with loan servicing, credit analysts and business bankers to resolve exceptions to loan closing documentation.
Job Specifications
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in commercial documentation, business lending or credit administration required.
Excellent written and communication skills.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Computer proficiency including Word, Excel and Access.
