RSU 40 is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Library Media Specialist to serve our seven schools in Midcoast, Maine. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about literacy, technology integration, and cultivating a love of reading in students.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the library collections and resources for seven school libraries serving grades PreK-12
Collaborate with teachers to develop and deliver instruction supporting research, digital literacy, and curriculum standards
Promote reading and literature appreciation through read-alouds, book talks, displays, and other engaging activities
Provide guidance to students and staff on evaluating and utilizing print and digital resources
Oversee library budgets, policies, and procedures across the district libraries
Supervise and mentor library staff at each school building
Qualifications
Master's degree in Library Science, Instructional Technology or related field required
Valid Maine Library Media Specialist certification (or ability to become certified)
Minimum 3 years experience as a school library media specialist preferred
Strong knowledge of children's and young adult literature
Expertise with technology integration, digital resources, and information literacy instruction
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
