A Linux administrator is a technical professional who manages and maintains Linux-based systems in an organization. They are responsible for:
Stability: Ensuring the stability of Linux servers and workstations
Security: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect Linux systems from unauthorized access
Performance: Monitoring system performance and ensuring high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure
Support: Providing technical support to users
Some Of Their Duties And Responsibilities Include
Install and configure: Linux systems including back-end databases and scripts
Perform system maintenance: Review error logs, create system backups, and monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes
Analyze: Network and server resource consumption and control user access
Design: Design and develop infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools
Develop: Develop and maintain configuration management solutions
Containerization: Kubernetes experience is a plus
Some Skills That a Linux Administrator Should Have Include
A B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in Computer Science
Experience administering Linux systems
Experience with scripting and programming languages
Strong organizational and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
