Linux Systems Administrator

We are partnering with a prestigious higher education organization in Evanston, IL who is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join the team for a large server upgrade project. This will be a contract opportunity, and requires the ability to be on-site in Evanston, IL.

Linux Systems Administrator Responsibilities:

• Install, configure and upgrade Linux servers and applications in a RedHat Enterprise environment
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and availability
• Implement security measures to protect systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities
• Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of Linux systems with other infrastructure components
• Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices in Linux system administration

Linux Systems Administrator Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator in a professional production environment
• Expertise in RedHat Enterprise Linux and related technologies
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, security principles and system monitoring tools
• Experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python or Perl
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification preferred
