Responsibilities

Role Description 

This is a full-time remote role for a Litigation Claim Case Manager with professional experience as a nurse, physician assistant, or equivalent. The Litigation Claim Case Manager will be the primary point of contact between the company, clients, and experts. The Litigation Claim Case Manager will be responsible for reviewing the client request, medical and billing records, assigning and sending the records to the appropriate expert, performing quality control of the expert’s report, coordinating calls, and returning the deliverables to the client in a timely manner.  

  • Extremely detail-oriented individual with an understanding of medical terminology is required. 
  • Individuals in this position must understand the importance of accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness while adhering to company guidelines and flexing between case reviews. 
  • Review daily case review deadlines to ensure timely processing according to department standards. 
  • Meet deadlines set by the client and internally to ensure client satisfaction. 
  • Perform quality assurance of work products. 
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and/or state mandates. 
  • Will perform special projects as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in at least one of these medical specialties: pain management, orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, neurology, physiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or neurological surgery.
  • Minimum of 3 years of  professional experience or Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) or Foreign Medical Graduate or equivalent, preferred but not required. 
  • In the absence of nursing or physician assistant licensure, must have AAPC certification or equivalent with 3 or more years of experience as an outpatient or inpatient certified coder or clinical documentation specialist. 
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology, different types of procedure reporting - operative vs. office vs. imaging vs. hospital vs. billing, etc. 
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology, different types of medical documentation including operative reports, office notes, imaging reports, emergency medicine records, hospital records, and billing records related to the medical specialties mentioned above. 
  • Understanding and experience with Medical Billing and Coding preferred, but not required. 
  • Experience with or basic understanding of Medical Expert Review, Utilization Review, or equivalent, preferred, but not required. 
  • Medical or Litigation Case Management experience, preferred, but not required. 
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality- we are a HIPAA compliant company. 

Computer Skills: 

  • High proficiency in the use of modern technology, especially computers, and related remote work office equipment. Experience in electronically reviewing documents. A secure home office with high-speed internet access. 
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat, and other CRM software.  
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated systems as well as a variety of software packages  
  • Must be comfortable with data input and retrieving information from computer systems. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use a standard desktop and Windows based computer system, including an understanding of email, internet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions on the job. Experience with databases, spreadsheet software and presentation software preferred.

  • Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), email, virtual meetings, interpersonal, collaboration and relationship-building skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to integrate knowledge. Prioritization and organizational skills required. Effective presentation/facilitation skills to accomplish educational goals for all members of the team. 
  • Must be comfortable operating independently in a remote office setting with little or no supervision, prioritize work activities, and use time efficiently. 
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative, virtual environment. 
  • Ability to work on various assignments simultaneously and to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing with clients, experts, and coworkers to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions. 
  • Well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks with great attention to detail. 
  • Must have an orientation toward detail. 
  • Must possess the ability to manage change, delays, or unexpected events appropriately. 
  • Ability to synthesize and distill information from diverse sources and assemble in user-friendly format. 
  • Flexibility and ability to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands. 
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines which include occasional nights and weekends. 
  • Acute judgment, problem-solving, and cognitive skills with aptitude for resolving issues and conflicts 
  • Continuous learner with ability to learn quickly on the job 
  • Handle rush and urgent cases in accordance with office policy for prioritization. 
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed timely and submitted by the specified deadline 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy environment, perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately, and work well under pressure or stressful conditions. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to directions accurately. 
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. 
  • Demonstrates reliability and abides by the company attendance policy.
