About the Role The Athletic is seeking a Live Reporter to work with some of the best sports writers in the world and a talented team of editors to produce exceptional live news and transfer blogs on a daily basis. The right candidate will have experience working on a national sports desk or similar, a brilliant quality of copy and an engaging, driven approach to live coverage. This is a remote-based role. Responsibilities

• Writing, editing and publishing content in live blogs
• Experience with producing breaking news content in an accurate, timely manner
• Curating the best content from social media
• Working with reporters to produce news stories and copy in their voice for live experience
• Collaborating with news editors to keep blogs up to date
• Strategic planning for tentpole events, matches and news storylines
• Understanding SEO and best practices
• Understanding of trends – both on search and social media
  
  
  

Requirements

• 4+ years of live blogging experience
• A solid background in sports journalism, with experience on a national sports desk
• Must be flexible and collaborative
• Willingness to work unsociable shifts around weekends and evenings

The annual base salary range for this role is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits.
