Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for preventative maintenance and repair on construction equipment, heavy trucks, tractor trailers, or similar machinery. This individual will weld and fabricate on various tools and equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain current relationships and cultivate new relationships with equipment/parts suppliers, as well as ordering parts for equipment/truck repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains or troubleshoots and repairs gas and diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, and brake, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
Replaces worn or broken parts, adjusts brakes, tightens bearings, tunes engines, etc.
Tests fixes and makes adjustments, as necessary.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts and equipment.
Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
Ensures new machines are prepared for operation following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency.
Stock and maintain readily used filters at both the mine and mill locations.
Collect and analyze inspection reports
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must be committed to working safely and following safety guidelines.
Performs work under minimal supervision.
Handles complex issues and problems.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 to 6 years of experience.
Problem-solving skills and time management skills. Manual dexterity.
