The Manager of EPMO is responsible for leading and overseeing the successful delivery and execution of key corporate initiatives through a team of program and project managers. This includes effectively partnering with Business Units/Divisions in order to support process improvements and corporate initiatives within the PMLC and Agile processes across the enterprise. Reports directly to Director, Enterprise Project Management Office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates on new project request intake process with Program Manager, Business Units, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Operations & Technology Teams to ensure correct EPMO resources are assigned to the approved projects coming out of the project intake.
  • Utilizes resource management techniques to assist on EPMO resource allocation. Leverage decisions made by the project intake process committee to determine which projects are approved to begin and need to be staffed.
  • Manages the team capacity to ensure projects are resourced properly before approval to begin execution. Works with resource managers across the enterprise to request and to secure resources for approved projects and reviews quarterly forecasts on capacity alongside the resource managers.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Motivates and coaches the EPMO team members to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work and to achieve the department goals and objectives.
  • Accomplishes department goals by communicating job expectations, managing team member’s performance, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Manages cross-functional team to implement and continuously improve the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Manages planning and administration of expense and capital budgets for own team within the EPMO department.
  • Assists on the development, continuous improvement, training and enforcement of project management methodologies, tools, and processes used within GEHA.
  • Refines and develops project management processes and templates supporting all projects for the enterprise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.

Additional years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience Requirements

  • Requires six years of project management experience.
  • Requires two years of managerial experience.
  • Requires strong analytic and problem solving capabilities and the ability to identify solutions and recommendations that effectively address business and control needs along with how to train and guide others in this area.
  • Requires the ability to multi-task effectively, responding to changing business priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong background in PMO Operations and Governance preferred
  • Requires the ability to work collaboratively and with team members across multiple divisions and departments.
  • Requires effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure and sometimes nebulous environment.
  • Requires knowledge of PMO/PMBOK best practices and industry standards.
  • PMP and Agile certifications preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is $113,677 - $160,243 USD.
