Position Title: Manager, Legal & Compliance

Department: Office of the Chief Operating Officer

Location: Washington, DC - Hybrid

Salary Range: $68,000 - $82,000 - $102,000

Our overall approach is to target the minimum to midpoint for starting salaries, based on these factors.

Position Summary: The Manager for Legal & Compliance (L&C) Operations will manage and support projects as well as create processes and practices to improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the L&C Team. The Manager will provide executive coordination to General Counsel, operational support to the L&C Team, and communicate with business unit stakeholders at all levels of the organization ensuring consistency and synergies across the department.

Responsibilities

Legal and Compliance

Manage the Power of Attorney Process including Apostille, Legalization and Notarization

Manage intellectual property paperwork (e.g. tradenames, trademarks) and legal invoicing under the direction of the General Counsel.

Review, draft and redline legal and business documents such as NDA's, Memorandums of Understanding and Procurement Agreements

Provide management support for company registrations, filings, governance and reps & certs paperwork

Manage the communication of information to the department and implementation of new processes and procedures to ensure synergies across functions

Conduct annual or biannual reviews of standard practices and policies to ensure Corus' compliance

Develop, implement and manage department intranet, tools, templates, workflows and reporting

Executive Coordination

Manage all aspects of office operations for General Counsel and L&C Team

Manage expense reimbursements, payment processing, and procurement processes for L&C

Develop systems and processes to ensure information flow within L&C and other departments of Corus

Support the planning, execution, documentation, and coordination of L&C strategic processes

Support to General Counsel including office administration, department communications and meeting preparation, legal research and invoice management

Work closely with General Counsel, keeping her informed of upcoming commitments, priorities, and responsibilities and following up appropriately

Support General Counsel with annual budgeting and forecasting analysis

Liaise with other departments on behalf of leadership as requested

Required Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S., equivalent certification (e.g. paralegal, legal professional) or relevant experience required
  • At least 5 years of professional work experience in legal, contracts management, compliance, or comparable field
  • Prior experience developing templates, work tools, playbooks, processes and procedures
  • Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce·
  • Spanish and/or French language skills a plus

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs
  • Strong aptitude for software and technology (e.g. MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • Desire to learn, refresh skills and keep abreast of subject matter related information and industry practices

Working Conditions, Travel And Environment

Corus has a hybrid work policy, allowing work to be done remotely; 2-3 days/week minimum in the office is required. The employee must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.

This position must be able to travel as required for standard domestic business purposes.

If applicable, must have authorization to work in the country of assignment.
