This position supports the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions and initiatives; serves as a key technical resource on complex accounting requirements; leads efforts to assess communicate the impact of new accounting standards to management; advises the implementation of new accounting standards and updates to ensure the appropriate accounting treatment and policies are consistently applied in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Also, will periodically assess the company’s risk environment and lead the implementation of mitigating initiatives to reduce risk as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; or equivalent combination of education and direct work experience; and
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
Major Responsibilities:
Support the business in determining the appropriate accounting treatment of material and complex transactions
Develop and update corporate accounting policies and procedures relating to a wide variety of accounting issues to ensure consistent application of accounting principles across the organization
Prepare technical accounting memorandums documenting conclusions of complex accounting issues and transactions with reference to appropriate accounting literature
Interact with external auditors and business management to ensure appropriate accounting conclusions are reached
Monitor accounting standard development activity proactively and assess the impact of new developments in accounting standards on the company
Lead and advise on the implementation and reporting of the new accounting standards
Preparation and review of annual financial statements and footnotes to ensure compliance with relevant authoritative rules and regulations
Assess business control environment and recommend improvements to mitigate risk

Key Skills and Competencies:
Proficient in financial accounting, cash management, corporate finance and accounting tax rules and laws
Understanding of US GAAP and related experience with technical accounting research and application
Ability to manage competing deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to analyze, research, organize and interpret data
Skills with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and verbal communication
High level of integrity and ethical standards
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA, CMA or CFM certification preferred
Commodity based agricultural processing and market hedging dynamics preferred
Other:
Monday – Friday 7-3:30pm.
Additional hours required as needed
Hybrid schedule available (up to 2 days remote work).
