See who Figma has hired for this role
We are looking for a design manager to lead our Design Experience team! The team is responsible for the Figma editor – Figma’s heart and soul – which is responsible for features related to editing and design systems, but also setting the tone for other products that use the editor as a foundation. We’re hoping to find a technically skilled person who can be newer to people management but is excited to push the bar for quality and execution on their teams, and isn’t afraid to get into the weeds and get their hands dirty. This is an opportunity to own one of the most importants surfaces at Figma, lead a wonderful group of designers, and collaborate with some very talented people.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you'll do at Figma:
- Manage and hire a group of world-class designers of all experience levels
- Partner deeply with Product and Engineering leads in this area to build great things, improve team processes and execution, and coach individual teams through setting roadmap and strategy
- Develop a perspective on your teams’ product areas and successfully advocate for it across the organization
- Run and improve team processes like critiques and sprints
- Advance your own skills at people management in a supportive and growth-oriented environment
- 3+ years of people management experience in Product Design
- Experience working on technical products or complex systems (e.g. editing tools, word processors, etc.)
- Exceptional skills as a craftsperson and the ability to teach others
- Strength in strategic thinking and communication–we need someone who can help influence teams
- We love people who like to take risks with new and interesting methodologies and ideas; who are not always satisfied with the status quo and always eager to improve both themselves and others.
