About The Role
As the Underwriting Manager in Lending Operations, you will have the ultimate responsibility of overseeing teams executing the proper comprehensive review and analysis of the loan structure, borrower profile, and loan documents to secure profitability and reduce risk.
The Underwriting Manager will ensure Sundae’s success in lending operations, including owning daily operations and strategy implementation to ensure that Sundae Lending is the go-to lender for fix and flip financing. You will lead and inspire a cross-functional organization to drive growth and continue supporting the initiatives that make Sundae an exceptional place to work. This role is highly collaborative; you will be a part of our corporate leadership team and collaborate with peers across multiple departments.
Responsibilities
Responsible for oversight across the underwriting team for business purpose mortgage loans in compliance with credit guidelines and requirements, for inside and outside Sundae network investors
Establish review oversight for loan files and monitor completeness, creditworthiness and implement process improvements
Collaborate with the VP of Lending Operations, Loan Expert Manager, Construction Manager and Closing Manager on daily operations and strategy implementation to ensure that Sundae Lending is the go-to lender for fix and flip financing
Build workplays and assist with Salesforce integration and build out
Implement learnings from investor and partner interaction into actionable procedure development and expansion
Train and mentor underwriting team leads as Sundae expands nationally
Drive the company underwriting guidelines, policies, procedures and workplays as well as federal and state regulatory requirements to ensure compliance at all times

Qualifications
Professional experience in real estate
At least 5 years experience in the mortgage industry as a lead loan processor or underwriter
2+ years supervisory/management experience
Ability to effectively balance strategic thinking with implementation
Savvy operations leader who can develop and implement plans to accomplish objectives via process improvement, system implementation, people alignment, KPI development, and partnership creation
Experience architecting and implementing automated processes and systems to improve efficiencies
Proven experience in driving strategic direction and interaction with executives, with a bias toward action and intuition for impact identification
Cross-Functional team leadership, with the ability to make fact-based decisions grounded in data
Strong fit with the values-driven, transparent, and collaborative culture
Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred but not required)
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $115,000 plus commission plan
Competitive benefits package with 100% paid premiums for employee and 80% for dependents
