Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, and customer, quality, and aerospace standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training.

Note: The primary differences between job levels tie to skill level, complexity of the problem solving, and years of experience. Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

Summary Of Job Duties

  • Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training.
  • Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
  • Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinates deployment including training of team members.
  • Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Monitors project tracking status to ensure projects are completed accurately and timely.
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
  • Maintains a safe, secure and legal work environment; adhering to all Company policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains and protects the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned or requested.

Education

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree preferred.

Experience: Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

  • Level I: 0-2 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Level Il: 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Level IIl: 5+ years of experience with at least 1 year leading or mentoring the work of assigned employees.

Skills

  • Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in understanding a variety of aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of related software including CATIA, AUTOCAD, and PLM.

  • May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
  • Must show proof of ability to work in the United States.

SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION

Level I: Direction with necessary guidance is provided in terms of tasks and objectives and measured based on how well objectives have been met. Receives detailed instructions as needed.

Level II: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will autonomously work on routine assembly or designs with frequent status updates with the supervisor. Will be provided with additional guidance on more complex or non-routine assemblies.

Level III: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will work autonomously on any assembly or design with only occasional status updates with the supervisor.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

None for Entry and Intermediate levels. The senior level may oversee the work of others.

PROBLEM-SOLVING

Level I: Uses judgment to make innovative decisions that comply with instructions or pre-determined processes, methods, and/or practices.

Level II: Uses judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions on design and processes within the limits of established boundaries and requirements.

Level III: Uses considerable judgment to plan and perform complex work. Decisions may involve innovation and ingenuity.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Bi-lingual in Spanish or Vietnamese is a plus.
