What you’ll do

  • Build and manage the Bodyshop Manufacturing Engineering Team.
  • Coordinate and manage daily activities including but not limited to monitoring equipment and build progress and communicating issues to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Lead engineering efforts for equipment improvements and resource planning between different projects.
  • Lead and coach personnel in all aspects of asset management including but not limited to; asset availability (mean time to repair (MTTR), mean time between failure (MTBF), cycle time, preventative maintenance, predictive and condition-based monitoring technologies.
  • Evaluate team member performance and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Trains, develops, and evaluates salary manufacturing engineers.
  • Participate in core team meetings, generate action items, and follow up with team members.
  • Coordinate interdependent tasks and deliverables with other groups, including Planning, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing.
  • Work closely with product engineering teams to drive DFM solutions and resolution to related issues.
  • Produce comprehensive and elaborate spreadsheets, graphs and PowerPoint presentations for meetings and management reports.
  • Coordinate resources, provide clear direction and timelines for deliverables, and delegate tasks across the engineering team.
  • Identify, maintain, and ensure project milestones and related activities are fully met.
  • Create standardized reports about manufacturing engineering status, and dimensional performance.
  • Act as interface between Bodyshop and other cross functional teams.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, as needed.
  • Evaluate and implement strategies that improve productivity and lower costs including equipment upgrades.
  • Support the development and implementation of manufacturing process improvements with planning team to maintain proper product functionality, including cost efficiency.
  • Ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively.
  • Responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and implements engineering changes and specification requirements.
  • Works with the planning department to communicate lessons learned from current and past projects.
  • Obtains a deep knowledge and ability to implement Scout principles.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 7+ years of professional experience in automotive production, with expertise in achieving stable production processes and in-depth knowledge of production equipment and operations.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong technical skills in networking, hardware, and software systems
  • Ability to understand mechanical assemblies, complex stations, and automated equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience building and managing teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $145,000-$165,000

Internal leveling code: M8
