Our Client a leading forestry products company is seeking an ambitious Materials Engineer to join the mechanical and process innovation group at the Client's Remote Operation Center. In this role, the candidate will work as part of a team to analyze failure and improve the reliability of the mechanical equipment associated with the production of forestry products.

Our Client a leading forestry products company is seeking an ambitious Materials Engineer to join the mechanical and process innovation group at the Client's Remote Operation Center. In this role, the candidate will work as part of a team to analyze failure and improve the reliability of the mechanical equipment associated with the production of forestry products.
What You Will Do
In this role the candidate will work as part of a team to analyze failure and improve the reliability of the mechanical equipment associated with the production of forestry products.
- Perform hands-on failure analysis and material characterization of mechanical components at our in-house metallurgical laboratory.
- Use knowledge and experience along with tools such as finite element modeling to develop solutions to prevent future breakdowns.
- Provide support to the capital projects group to resolve operations issues with material selection.
- Organize data, write technical reports, and provide analysis recommendations.
- Lead reliability systems on non-destructive testing programs by developing standard inspection documents.
- Travel to Client operations for various inspections, working as part of a team on root cause failure investigations, capital project support for new equipment, and/or process improvement.
- Utilize operational data for failure and/or operational investigation support.
- Laboratory equipment management, and some user-level maintenance.
- Bachelor of Sciences in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Effective communication skills to work with the various individuals at all levels of the organization and with our original equipment manufacturers
- Knowledge of metallurgy and fractography, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, and corrosion
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision, and be able to work with others on cross-functional teams
- Ability to perform independent failure analysis (with necessary colleague or outside consultation available)
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Valid passport is required.
