Job Description
Mechanical Equipment Company is seeking an experienced Mechanic/Helper for their Simpsonville, SC facility. Mechanical Equipment Company operates a fabrication and repair shop for the production and repair of custom fire pump skids & buildings, heat transfer skids, and booster pump skids. The repair department works on a wide variety of pumps, motors, heat exchangers, gear boxes, etc. The facility typically operates on a first shift basis, 4 x 10 hr/day/week. The fabrication/repair work is usually done in the Simpsonville facility, however day trips to customer locations in support of our service/startup activities are required occasionally.

Mechanical Equipment Company is seeking an experienced Mechanic/Helper for their Simpsonville, SC facility. Mechanical Equipment Company operates a fabrication and repair shop for the production and repair of custom fire pump skids & buildings, heat transfer skids, and booster pump skids. The repair department works on a wide variety of pumps, motors, heat exchangers, gear boxes, etc. The facility typically operates on a first shift basis, 4 x 10 hr/day/week. The fabrication/repair work is usually done in the Simpsonville facility, however day trips to customer locations in support of our service/startup activities are required occasionally.
Responsibilities:
- Works as assigned by the Supervisor to ensure the successful completion of on-going or new repairs/projects
- Proficient and skilled in the use of hand tools
- Proficient and skilled in the use of measuring tools including, but not limited to, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, dial indicators, etc.
- Displays and uses capabilities to cut, weld, and grind metal as needed
- Utilizes oxygen-acetylene cutting torch and related equipment when required to cut metal
- Perform responsibilities with little to no supervision
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to all safety procedures and regulations
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment necessary to minimize unsafe conditions
- Maintain a high productivity level and perform other duties as assigned
- 3+ years of relevant working experience
- Must have strong attention to detail and a high level of mechanical aptitude
- Be able to pass a drug screen and background check
- Must have positive "can-do" attitude with ability to work with others
- Able to read and interpret fabrication drawings
- Minimum education of high school diploma
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
