About the Company


This posting is for a full-time, fully remote contract position anticipated to start in October 2024 and last through October 2025.


About the Role


The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position performs design and stress analyses of pressure vessels and piping in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines.


Responsibilities



  • Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design.
  • Prepares and/or reviews engineering specifications, CAD models, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS.
  • Interprets scope and project requirements.
  • Acquires, maintains, and develops training qualifications. Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in areas associated with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Design Specifications.
  • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills


The ideal candidate will create, draft, and design product layouts and schemes using customer specification and recommendations. This individual will test products and make adjustments where necessary. Additionally, they will examine broken products and resolve issues for future designs.


Qualifications


  • Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four-year ABET accredited college or university is required. An advanced degree is preferred. A professional engineer (P.E.) certification is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of full-time relevant working experience is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive ASME Code Section III NB-3200 and NG-3200 knowledge, Subsection NF knowledge is also preferred. Design experience for ASME Code components is required, ASME Code Design Specification experience is required, ASME Design Specification certifying experience is preferred.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
