Summary: Creates mechanical engineering designs in a machine design environment. The Engineers will create complex assemblies, as well as detailed components. This job description addresses engineering, design, drafting and documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Create engineered concepts.
Develop top assemblies, sub-assemblies, details, etc using design tools, (Inventor and/or Solid Works).
Create and maintain bills of materials (BOM’s).
Research and specify materials, commercially available components (COT’s).
Deal with vendors.
Check and release drawings.
Interact with the Production Department.
Follow dictated work instructions and establish priorities and sequences for designing products.
Understands and follows all engineering documents and procedures in accordance with the ISO 9001 guidelines.
Understands and works toward engineering schedules and help coordinate engineering activities to ensure timely project completion and to ensure the quality of products meets specifications.
Contribute to engineering and operating reports and help resolve operational, manufacturing and engineering problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Design jigs, fixtures and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
Help develop or revise standard operational and working practices and coordinate with production to ensure compliance.
Compile, store and retrieve engineering data and documentation.
Education and Experience
BSME or Equivalent Work Experience
Five to ten years Mechanical Engineering and design experience in a machine design environment.
Must have the ability to design in a computer aided engineering and design environment using design tools including but not limited to Inventor, Solid Works or Autocad 2D packages or other software tools.
Has basic knowledge of computers and practical use of Word, Excel, Internet, Power Point, AutoCAD, Inventor/Solid Works (Will Train as Required)
Excellent problem solving skills related to the manufacturing industry.
Must be capable to read and comprehend mechanical blue prints.
Possess the basic knowledge to read electrical schematics and cable drawings.
Possess excellent communication skills – written and verbal.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to sit for extended periods, walk, crouch, bend, and kneel upon occasion. Must be able to lift weight not exceeding fifty pound un assisted.
Work Environment – The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Will be required to use basic hand tools and electrical drills, nut drivers, band saw etc, MDCI will supply instruction when necessary.
Will be required to use industrial equipment – drill press, band saw, lathe and milling machine only after proper safety and use instruction is given by qualified individual/s and documented that operator is comfortable with use and accepts the risks.
