$60.00/hr - $85.00/hr

LOCATION: Fully Remote

DURATION: Long term opportunity, 12+ month contract with option for extension and conversion to FTE

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in the Nuclear Industry. This would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in nuclear design, engineering changes, and configuration management looking to further their career in new nuclear technology.


  • Utilize inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions.
  • Provide planning and schedule input for design activities.
  • Develop testing documentation.
  • Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options.
  • Interface with the team’s engineering analysis activities.
  • Present equipment and components design results for design reviews.
  • Interface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of five years of equipment / component design experience; relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience.
  • Experienced in nuclear design
  • Experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience with design of experiments with an emphasis on product testing,
  • Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, first principles calculations, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.
  • Familiarity in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
