They are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team as an Owner’s Representative, playing a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of data center projects.


Position Overview:

As a Data Center Construction Mechanical Engineer for an Owner’s Representative, you will be the client’s trusted advisor, overseeing the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems within data center projects. You will collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and internal teams to ensure that the mechanical aspects of the project meet the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability. Your expertise will guide the project from concept to completion, ensuring that our client’s expectations are met or exceeded.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the owner’s representative, overseeing the mechanical engineering aspects of data center construction projects from design through commissioning.
  • Review and provide input on mechanical system designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of contractors, ensuring that mechanical installations are completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and electrical engineers to address design and construction challenges, providing practical solutions.
  • Ensure the integration of energy-efficient and sustainable practices into mechanical system designs and operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client regarding mechanical engineering issues, providing regular updates and technical guidance.
  • Manage project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and change orders, to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality control standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and advancements in data center mechanical engineering to incorporate best practices into projects.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 13+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a primary focus on data center or mission-critical facilities.
  • Previous experience as an Owner’s Representative or in a similar client-facing role is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling technologies, fire suppression systems, and data center mechanical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and LEED.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficient in using engineering design and project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, MS Project).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality results and exceeding client expectations.
