Mechanical Engineer (1 – 5 years’ experience)

We are looking for someone with HVAC&R / Building Systems experience, and a passion for learning. Curiosity about technology and data is a big plus, but experience not required. If you’re willing to learn, work independently, and solve hard problems, apply today.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training and/or experience
  • 1-5 years of experience in HVAC, Design and/or Data Analytics in the built environment
  • Excellent understanding of HVAC Engineering Fundamentals
  • Ability to interact effectively with others in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and meet scheduled deadlines
  • Proactive, strong work ethic, eager to learn and apply new skills.
  • Professional attitude and commitment to high quality work
  • Adaptability to learn new platforms and ways to manipulate and access data and recognizing patterns for rule creation
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot charts, data normalization, basic calculations, charts/graphs)
  • Experience in PowerBI, Google Plex and SQL are a plus
  • Experience in Project Management a plus


Responsibilities may include:

  • Design and peer review for new construction and existing systems
  • Develop scope of work and preliminary design documents including basis of design narratives, flow diagrams, plans and sections, details, equipment schedules, and calculations
  • Perform facility condition assessments
  • Identify energy conservation measure opportunities
  • Provide a holistic approach to system evaluation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and recommend solutions.
  • Support the commissioning team and process by providing expertise with control system operation, issues resolution and energy/system optimization.
  • Perform data gathering, interpretation and visualization to analyze HVAC system operations and performance data using SQL
  • BMS Controls experience: reviewing, writing, evaluating sequence of operations
  • Develop naming convention standards for data aggregation efforts.
  • Develop fault detection and diagnostics expressions for various HVAC equipment types
  • Develop fault cost/savings calculations for fault priority ranking
  • Apply advanced visualization approaches to data to inform owners and operators of problems and opportunities using PowerBI, Tableau or Google Plex

** As part of the interview process, candidate may be given an exercise to assess skill sets in one or more of the following: Mechanical systems analysis and troubleshooting; Data manipulation and analysis.


Salary Range: $70,000 - $120,000 DOE and Location
