Base pay range
A Construction Management and Energy Services Company seeks a full time Mechanical Engineer who thrives in a “Culture of Curiosity”. This position will focus on HVAC development and design for municipalities, schools, and other commercial applications. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in this field. This position requires working in a team environment to investigate, develop, and deliver creative energy and operational saving solutions for a wide variety of facilities. The Mechanical Engineer is involved in the project from the early sales phase through construction close-out.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Position will focus on HVAC development and design for municipalities, school and other commercial applications. This position will be involved with all phases of construction and will also have exposure to general construction, including lighting, and other trades. Projects include both publicly bid plans and specifications, and design build projects for clients. This position requires an understanding of retrofit projects and new construction.
A general overview of major duties includes the following.
- Work in a team environment to sell, design, develop, and implement construction projects.
- Generate bidding and construction documents.
- Coordinate directly with Clients.
- Complete studies, and energy audits of facilities.
- Generate engineering documents and energy savings calculations.
- Maintain and grow knowledge of current standards and codes.
- Work with utilities and other 3rd parties to obtain grants, rebates, and other funding.
- Other duties as required.

- This position requires the ability to perform work indoors in an office environment such as cubicle, open office, or private office.
- This position requires the ability to work out of the office in the field which may include working around construction hazards, rotating equipment, high voltage, or warm, humid areas.
- This position requires the occasional use of basic hand tools
- This position requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling for long lengths of time.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, or related engineering field.
Preferred:
- Hold Professional Engineer (PE) License for Minnesota.
- Member of ASHRAE
- Member of AEE, hold CEM certificate
Skills & Experience
Required:
- Curious nature with passion for finding solutions.
- Knowledge of building HVAC and controls.
- Self-motivator with strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work alone.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Driver’s license and transportation.
- Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays (approximately 10%).
- Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, if needed.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of energy savings strategies and renewable energy.
- Knowledge of other non-mechanical building materials and systems.
- Construction experience.
