We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our growing team in the Advanced Engineering Department for the Fall Semester of 2024. This is an onsite 40-hour-per-week paid internship positionlocated in Livonia, MI.

Responsibilities

  • Support design efforts utilizing SolidWorks
  • Support build/assembly efforts
  • Diagnose problemsand conduct root cause analysis
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups andfabrication shop
  • Support product development testing
  • Work on unique engineering problems and challenge your engineering skills
  • Apply your academic knowledge to real world engineering challenges
  • Tackle unique challenges never taken on before

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to work a 40hour work week from August2024 - December2024
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance
  • Must currently be pursuing a bachelor'sor master's degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Mechatronics preferred
  • Must have a minimum of freshman standing
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be proficient in MS Office
  • Must have a strong desire to learn engineering system design & development, or manufacturing as it is related to the automotive industry
  • Must love working on vehicles and/or mechanical systems
  • Abilityto think outside the box and enjoy research and development type activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formula SAE/Baja experience
  • Hands-on automotive/mechanical diagnosis and repair experience
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks, Catia V5/V6 or similar)
  • Prior internship experience in an automotive related environment
  • Interest in electric and autonomous vehicles and technology
