The Mechanical Project Engineer will be primarily responsible for the implementation and installation of capital equipment and facilities to include ownership of all phases of a project from initiation and planning through installation, commissioning, and closeout. This position will provide engineering expertise to assist plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel in identifying and solving technical process issues. A practical level of understanding of mechanical engineering principles are to be applied to assigned project work. Individual is to be provided with moderate task definition, supervision, and technical/process-related advice throughout the execution of assignments. Typically, some but minimal overall project responsibility will be delegated by this individual to others.
Duties
Essential Duties
- Recommend, specify, and procure facilities and manufacturing process equipment that match project application requirements and business needs.
- Capital project management that includes scope development, funding requests, budget tracking, schedule tracking, project execution, and general project documentation
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of contractors and plant maintenance personnel during project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing process equipment and systems.
- Provide training and technical assistance to plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel to ensure all project goals are successfully attained
- Travel to Carlisle Construction Materials facilities outside of home base office, in support of project planning, equipment installation, startup, and training.
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum of five years industrial/manufacturing experience in a mechanical engineering capacity
- PMP certification preferred
- The basic work environment is within a manufacturing facility with an average of 3-4 weeks of travel per quarter (although more travel may be required on occasion). The atmosphere is relatively fast paced and occasionally becomes stressful. The environment demands that multiple projects be worked on at the same time.
- 80% office – project development, monthly reports, projects updates, team meetings/calls
- 20% travel – project support, equipment installation, commissioning, startups, vendor visits
