We are an EPC contractor specializing in the installation of power generation and industrial process facilities. Our motivated team of in-house construction managers, project managers, engineers, and project staff work together to manage the engineering, procurement, and construction of various projects. We collaborate with specialized architect engineering firms to execute engineering tasks, while our in-house team provides critical oversight and preliminary engineering design bases.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Engineer - Mechanical to join our in-house engineering team. In this role, you will oversee the execution of process engineering and design by our engineering subcontractor. Your primary focus will be on the timely identification, analysis, and resolution of process-related issues during project development, FEL engineering, and detailed design stages. You will support the Engineering Manager in subcontractor management, project report development, and internal project budget development.
Essential Duties:
- Lead the coordination and review of subcontractors' process engineering tasks, identify design issues, and monitor the progress of all process deliverables to ensure compliance with project contract documents and requirements.
- Review engineering contractor’s deliverables with an emphasis on value engineering, constructability, and completeness/correctness.
- Review vendor drawing submittals for overall compliance with purchase specifications.
- Work with the internal engineering team to oversee the subcontractor’s work scope, ensuring the engineering effort is completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Provide technical leadership in coordinating the mechanical design of power generation and other utility-type projects.
- Independently coordinate with subcontractor’s discipline lead engineer to resolve open design points and ensure conformance to project specifications.
- Coordinate design review activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Apply extensive knowledge of API, PIP, and other industry standards in reviews.
- Ensure that reports, plans, and other deliverables meet project requirements and maintain client-provided standards when necessary.
- Participate in client coordination meetings and lead discipline-specific client design reviews and coordination.
- Assist in preparing preliminary reports, design criteria documents, drawings, equipment specifications, and other deliverables during proposal and contract development efforts.
- Travel to subcontractor’s offices and construction sites as needed throughout project execution.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation or similar utility-type engineering with a proven track record of achievement on large complex projects, including serving in a leadership capacity on multiple projects.
- Strong technical background in the installation and operation of process equipment and associated subsystems.
- Experience as a lead design engineer on multiple large-scale facilities.
- Experience developing equipment specifications and coordinating with equipment suppliers.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project team members and client entities, demonstrating leadership capabilities to ensure a successful project.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with equipment vendors to provide optimum solutions to equipment design that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- P.E. license is not required but preferred.
