Medical Assistant

Optimus Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center with sites operating in Bridgeport, Stamford and Stratford, CT. We are the largest provider of primary health care services in Fairfield County, proudly serving all patients regardless of their ability to pay.

We are presently recruiting a Medical Assistant for our Behavioral Health Dept to work at East Main, Bridgeport, CT. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred not required.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant is a member of the patient centered medical home (PCMH) care team responsible for working with providers, nurses, and other front office staff to ensure the complete and timely patient flow process. This individual exhibit sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and must maintain strict confidentiality.

Job Qualifications/Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Intimate knowledge of language and culture of a sizeable segment of community served by the health center.

EXPERIENCE: Experience in a clinical setting. Familiarity with tele-medicine and prior experience a plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual: Spanish-English helpful; Demonstrate the ability to effectively interpret medical terminology as assessed by successful completion of language proficiency assessment

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic mathematical skills

REASONING ABILITY: Secures guidance and support from the licensed nursing staff or primary care providers regarding the delivery of patient care. Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or in process of acquiring Certification, a plus. CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually
