Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Simulation and Modeling Engineer to join Atomica. Reporting to the CTO, the ideal candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive models for our processes, structures, and components. Additionally, the engineer will simulate device performance to ensure optimal functionality and reliability of the final products. This role is crucial for driving innovation and maintaining our competitive edge in the MEMS industry.

Responsibilities:

Process Modeling:

  • Develop and maintain detailed models for MEMS fabrication processes.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to integrate real-world process variations into simulation models.
  • Optimize process parameters to enhance manufacturing efficiency and yield.
  • Structure and Component Modeling:
  • Create and validate models for MEMS structures and components produced by various fabrication processes.
  • Utilize finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools to predict mechanical, thermal, and electrical behavior.
  • Work with engineering teams to improve structural integrity and performance of MEMS components.

Device Performance Simulation:

  • Develop comprehensive simulations to predict the performance of final MEMS devices.
  • Analyze device behavior under various operating conditions to identify potential issues and optimization opportunities.
  • Validate simulation results with experimental data and refine models accordingly.

Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, design engineers, and quality assurance.
  • Document modeling and simulation methodologies, results, and recommendations.
  • Present findings and insights to stakeholders to guide design and process improvements.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in simulation and modeling techniques and tools.
  • Propose and implement new methodologies to enhance modeling accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of MEMS device performance and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in simulation and modeling, preferably in the MEMS or semiconductor industry.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, CoventorWare, MATLAB/Simulink, Synopsis TCAD, Silvaco or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of MEMS or semiconductor fabrication processes and materials.
  • Expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CAD tools and design software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and statistical tools is desirable.
