Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • System Administration:
    • Manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, and virtualization environments.
    • Perform routine system monitoring, performance tuning, and optimization to ensure optimal system performance and availability.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide advanced technical support to end-users and IT team members regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems, escalating issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • System Configuration and Deployment:
    • Design, implement, and maintain system configurations, including operating systems, applications, and security settings.
    • Deploy new systems and technologies in accordance with established procedures and best practices.
  • Security Management:
    • Implement and enforce security measures and policies to protect IT systems, data, and infrastructure from security threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests to identify and address security risks.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery:
    • Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data protection and business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters.
    • Perform regular backups, test recovery procedures, and update documentation as needed.
  • Patch Management and Compliance:
    • Manage and coordinate software patching and updates for operating systems, applications, and firmware to maintain system security and compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
    • Share knowledge and expertise with team members through training sessions, documentation, and collaboration tools.
Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Server+) are a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in system administration roles, with a focus on managing complex IT infrastructures in enterprise environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in administering Windows Server and/or Linux/Unix operating systems.
    • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
    • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
    • Familiarity with security tools and practices, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection.
    • Experience with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Backup Exec) and disaster recovery planning.
    • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for task automation and system management.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with IT team members, stakeholders, and external vendors to achieve common goals and objectives.
