Mortgage Loan Assistant

Summary Provides support to assigned Mortgage Loan Officer(s) and their Processor(s) to include clerical and technical duties in addition to customer service functions to ease capacity issues, providing a higher level of responsiveness to the customer in order to make every customer feel like the only customer every time by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Answers telephone, takes messages, sets up appointments, and provides clerical assistance such as filing, faxing, mailing, copying, scanning and emailing for Mortgage Loan Officer(s).
  • Sets up mortgage loan file according to stacking order for submission to processing, making hard copy of file for Mortgage Loan Officer(s).
  • Sets up loans and enters loan data in operating system accurately.
  • Provides assistance in verifying loan data such as ordering credit reports, credit report supplements, Fraud Guard report, tax transcripts, payoffs, verifications of employment, deposits, loans and mortgages; pulling FFIEC reports; telephone verifications of employment; and requesting copies of home owners and flood insurance, septic inspections, termite reports and pre-slab treatments on new construction.
  • Assists in calling borrowers to request missing and additional documentation needed to complete loan files.
  • Completes appraisal request forms for processing.
  • Requests Loan Title Insurance when processing has reviewed and submitted file to underwriting.
  • Assists in providing mortgage closing department with documentation from loan file according to closing checklist.
  • Sends thank you notes to applicants and referring party.
  • Participates in mortgage training and education classes to include online banking courses for compliance and to fulfill requirements of banking regulations.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum three years mortgage or related experience.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Ability to use basic office machines. Ability to learn bank-specific software such as MPC, IBS, ADP, etc.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
